Supporting young people at Christmas

For children and young people in our care, Christmas is a time to celebrate together.

In St Christopher’s homes, young people and staff get together at Christmas to prepare food, put up Christmas decorations and play games together.

Staff give young people gifts including perfumes, clothing, video games and football shirts with their names on the back. The celebrations are often made even better by visits from young people who used to live in the homes coming back for the day to share in the festivities.

Over the festive season young people and staff also go out together to take part in activities such as bowling and ice skating. In one of our London homes, they also took part in their now-annual tradition of watching the New Year’s Eve fireworks near London Bridge. This is a favourite spot of staff members with brilliant views of the display, which they now take the children and young people to so they can share in the excitement.

You can help our young people and staff to celebrate together at Christmas. Your donation towards our Christmas appeal could go towards a group trip for all young people and staff in our homes, helping to make sure the Christmas period is a happy time for them.
