Funding supports care leavers to learn essential life skills

Pudsey Bear gives thumbs up to St Christopher’s

We are thrilled to share that St Christopher’s has been successful in securing a grant of £98,000 from BBC Children in Need to expand our successful life skills work in England.

The grant will go towards allowing us to reach younger children aged 12-16 with our life skills work and supporting them to re-engage with education, training and learning, and employment opportunities.

By expanding our offering of life skills work, children will feel more confident and better equipped to move on from care, meaning there will be fewer placement breakdowns once they are at this next stage. They will also be emotionally stronger and better able to cope with stressful situations, reducing the risk of running away, substance misuse or anti-social behaviour.

Director of Corporate Services, Geneva Ellis, said: “We’re really excited that this grant will allow us to increase this department’s capacity so we can help more children and young people to have easier transitions and brighter futures.”
