Fostering in Dudley
St Christopher’s is looking for kind, patient, compassionate people to become foster carers in Dudley.
Around 675 children in Dudley are in care. Like in the rest of the UK, the majority of children in care in Dudley live with foster families.
Although this figure accounts for only 1% of children and young people in the area, we are passionate about making sure every child has the chance to be happy and succeed. By providing foster families in Dudley we can make sure these young people have the best care available, enjoy their childhood and work towards a brighter future.
What do foster carers do?
When a young person comes into care, their local authority finds the most appropriate and suitable placement for their needs. This could be living with foster parents, in a children’s home or in semi-independent housing.
As a foster carer you will be supported by St Christopher’s to take care of a young person. This could involve helping them with schoolwork, going on fun days out as a family, or taking them to visit to their birth family.
Our regional office is located nearby in West Bromwich, where all our support groups and training sessions for West Midlands foster carers take place.
