Our mission is to create brighter futures for children and young people. We do this by providing fostering, residential and support services where children and young people can feel safe and cared for. We support them to make positive relationships which give them the confidence to succeed.

Tools for success
With the help of donors, we’ve been providing grants to help our young people achieve their dreams. The Hickinbotham Awards were set up by Susan and Tony Hickinbotham in 2011. Each year young people apply for funding for activities that support their personal growth.
This year £7,700 was awarded through the Hickinbotham Awards. This included a grant of £2,000 for a young person to set up a gardening business and £1,300 for a foster child to have additional English and Maths tuition to help her catch up at school.
14-year-old Rab has a dream of becoming a mechanic. Due to his lack of self-confidence he’s been reluctant to attend school, but he is very committed to doing regular work experience at a local garage. With his Hickinbotham grant Rab has bought a mechanic’s apprentice toolbox. This has really boosted his confidence and his school attendance has hugely improved. He’s now set on the path to secure a place on a mechanics course and enter adult life as a skilled tradesman.
