St Christopher’s Launches 2024 Christmas Appeal to Support Young People in Care and Those Transitioning from Care
This November, children’s charity St Christopher’s launches its annual Christmas appeal, raising funds to ensure young people in care don’t face the future alone.
St Christopher’s is a charity with more than 150 years of experience caring for children and young people. It provides life-changing services and creates brighter futures for children and young people in care and leaving care, and those in fostering or on the edge of care.
This year’s appeal highlights Tom’s story. When he left our care at 18, the thought of living alone was terrifying. Suddenly, the safety net he’d known for 4 years was gone, and he had no idea where to start. But with help, Tom didn’t have to figure it all out alone. From helping him learn how to manage his finances and pay bills, to offering emotional support during difficult days, we were there every step of the way – turning those moments of crisis into manageable challenges. Sometimes, all Tom needed was a phone call.
“Tom’s story reflects the compassionate care at the heart of our mission, empowering young people to discover their strengths and build the confidence to thrive, with our support extending beyond their time in our care.”
Says Ned Wall, Life Skills & Participation Manager at St Christopher’s.
“We’re excited to kick off this year’s Christmas Appeal, and invite everyone to join us in creating more inspiring experiences like Tom’s.”
This Christmas, a gift of £35 can help provide life-changing support to more young people in their journey from care to independence. Every donation makes an impact, enabling St Christopher’s to continue building brighter futures for those who need it most.
