Therapeutic approach
Many of the young people we care for have complex needs as a result of their previous experiences. These experiences can impact young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing during their childhood and beyond.
St Christopher’s in-house team of psychological therapists includes practitioners trained in Art Psychotherapy, Attachment, Systemic Psychotherapy, Addictions, Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and trauma-informed therapeutic practice. Our care is informed by relational and integrative therapeutic approaches, with particular reference to understanding the impact of developmental trauma.
We aim to provide therapeutic support which puts relationships between young people and staff at the centre, in line with our social pedagogic commitment. The focus is on the importance of building positive, empowering and healthy relationships by developing the internal resources, wellbeing and capacity of all.
