At St Christopher’s we believe:
- in comprehensive and continuous training programmes for our foster carers, so that they feel confident in the care they provide for children and young people.
- that it is important to keep our staff and foster carers up to date with the latest developments and therapeutic techniques.
- that ongoing training ensures that our foster carers are better able to deal with unexpected and challenging situations.
- that comprehensive training helps our foster carers to be aware of the discrimination felt by many looked-after children and helps them to find strategies to cope with it.
- that our foster carers deserve to gain recognised qualifications in childcare.
We provide access to and support for AKAMAS e-learning programmes, specifically designed for workers in the social care field.

- working with foster children who have been abused
