Limegrove Hostel provides emergency, quick-access accommodation for homeless men and women.
The centre houses 40 homeless men and women. There are also three units of supported move-on housing and a small floating support scheme. The project aims to meet all the needs of homeless people in one location by providing
- accommodation
- healthcare
- training
- education
- employment advice
all under one roof.
Limegrove Hostel is a purpose-built development managed by St Christopher's. It opened in 1999 on the site of the former BBC Lime Grove Studios in Shepherd’s Bush.
Most people who are housed at the hostel are from within the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. Most residents are former rough sleepers and have a wide range of support needs, including mental health, drug and/or alcohol problems.
Since opening, Limegrove has provided a safe place to stay for hundreds of homeless people. It has an occupancy rate of over 99%. Such is the demand for places that vacancies are usually filled with four hours.
Limegrove Hostel only takes referrals from named agencies. Priority is given to the Local Authority Housing Needs Department and Street Outreach Services. Because we have to target scarce resources, the hostel cannot accept self-referrals, but staff are able to put people in contact with local services.
