Residential care

We are proud of our successful delivery of residential care services.

All our homes are designed to provide a safe and caring, child-centred environment, on a human scale.

We can offer

  • short- medium- and long-term residential care
  • qualified, professional staff with the skills and experience to understand the complex needs of the young people we care for
  • St Christopher's family support service for those returning to the family home.

We work hard to

  • rebuild confidence
  • instil a sense of hope for the future

for all the children and young people who use our service.

Each young person has

  • their own bedroom, which they are encouraged to 'make their own'
  • their own individual care plan, drawn up with their full involvement.

We involve young people in the running of the home and the care they receive

  • by having regular meetings and discussions
  • by ensuring young people have their say in planning menus, outings, activities, the decor of the home, etc.
  • by talking in depth about where they will be living and the help they may need when they leave.

In all our homes, educational support workers are available to support young people and encourage them to attend school. Where this is not possible we aim to ensure that alternative provision, such as a tutor, is provided. We run homework clubs and each home has an education area with books, art materials and a computer with controlled access to the internet.

We also encourage young people, where appropriate, to stay in contact with their families, friends and local communities. We make every effort to ensure that young people maintain contact with their culture. This includes providing the right food, helping to observe religious days and feasts, support in getting to places of worship, and providing interpreters.
