St Christopher's has a growing reputation for providing progressive solutions to childcare needs by working with local authorities both inside and outside the UK. We are particularly proud of our successful partnership with the Isle of Man government.
The Isle of Man is an internally self-governing dependent territory of the British Crown. It is not part of the United Kingdom. It makes its own laws and oversees all internal administration, fiscal and social policies, including legislation concerning the running of childcare services.
We have worked since July 2004 with the Isle of Man government to run a range of children's services, including several children's homes, a secure care home
and a specialist education support service
.
We have set up our own charity on the island: St Christopher's (Isle of Man). The charity has its own council, which includes local residents. This has the added benefits of ensuring that local people are involved in the development and running of our services there, and that the young people we look after can talk directly to our council.
