20 December 2007
Staff and service users alike enjoyed this year's St Christopher's Children's Services Celebration of Achievement on the afternoon and evening of Saturday 1 December.
Young people came from St Christopher's children's homes in London and Bedfordshire, not only to celebrate their achievements, but also to have fun at Mudchute Farm, a unique venue under the bright towers of London's Canary Wharf.
The fun and games began with farmyard-themed 'Christmas Olympic' games, including new giant Jenga, quoits and new-age curling - involving discs on wheels aimed at a target along a corridor of hay bales (a recognised Paralympic event).
As evening drew in, we moved onto the floodlit outdoor games. The highlights of these were an energetic game of five-a-side softball and a hilarious welly-chucking competition.
This was followed by a wholesome and tasty dinner and a lively after-party in the barn, with music provided by the resident DJ. Awards to celebrate their individual achievements while living in St Christopher's homes were given to the young people during the meal.
The smiles on the faces of the young people as they left the Farm confirmed that the event had been a great success.
