Drama and poetry against violence

28th November 2006

In another first for St Christopher’s, a group of service users will be acting out a drama of their own creation at this year’s Keeping London Children Safe conference.

The budding thespians are care leavers at St Christopher’s Aimhi project, ably led by service user representative Lara Macardle, aided and abetted by Service User Participation Worker Vanessa Bell.

The theme of the drama is violence against children. It will be followed by a poem by Lara.

The audience at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre will include the Rt Hon Beverly Hughes MP, Minister for Children, Young People and Families, Sue Wilkinson, Metropolitan Police Commander, Child Abuse Investigation Command, and Derek Myers, Chief Executive of the London Borough of Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and Chair of the London Safeguarding Children Board.

The conference aims to support better safeguarding of London’s children. For more details, see events page.
