Three pupils from Rydens School in Walton-on-Thames recently picked St Christopher's as their charity of choice for the school's Youth and Philanthropy Initiative.
The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) is an international programme designed to develop community leaders of the future and to raise awareness of the work of grassroots charities. Pupils are given a hands-on experience of philanthropy that highlights the positive impact they can have on their communities and provides them with the tools to lead.
Natalie, Paige and Maisie visited our head office, spoke to staff and collected information and resources on which to base a five-minute presentation to staff and fellow pupils about St Christopher's. A prize of £3,000 was at stake for the winning charity so we were delighted to hear that the girls had made it through to the final.
Unfortunately, despite giving a brilliant multimedia presentation on the day, the girls were pipped at the post for the top prize by the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity. However, they intend to continue to support St Christopher's and are already collecting sponsors to help raise money for us.
Well done girls - we're sure we'll be hearing more from you in the future!
