New children's home opens in Sandwell

15 February 2008

We are proud to announce that the first of St Christopher’s new children’s homes in the Sandwell area is now open.

Three young people are moving in, and the service users and staff are delighted with the service and surroundings.

This is the first of six small children’s homes that we are setting up in partnership with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, planned to open throughout 2008.

Each home will have a minimum of three places, and there will be six foster care placements linked to the homes. They will provide Sandwell young people with homes within their own communities, enabling them to maintain family contacts, friendships and school placements.

The new home had two open days in December, for Sandwell Council officials and staff from other agencies in the borough to come and see the services we are providing, and get to know our staff. Everybody came away favourably impressed by the dedication and professionalism of St Christopher’s staff and the excellent quality of our services.
