Running away is a sign that something is seriously wrong in a young person's life. Children who run away face significant immediate and long term risks.
At St Christopher's we have considerable experience of working with young runaways through our preventative, support and residential care services. In the last ten years we have helped over 2,000 young runaways.

St Christopher's Runaways Project offers swift and effective support to every young runaway reported missing in Enfield. This overview enables us to identify current trends and, in partnership with the local authority, to target resources to those most at risk.
Our team work with young people to explore and address their reasons for running away.
We provide:
-
guidance to families on how to support young people returning home
-
someone for young people to talk to about their worries
-
mediation in family disputes.
We work in close partnership with children's services, police and schools. This allows us to find coordinated responses and resolutions to the problems that have led the young person to run away from home. We also provide expert advice to our partner agencies to enable them to spot and support children and young people at risk of running away.
Our preventative work includes educating children and young people about the realities of homelessness through St Christopher's Homeless Intervention Project.
