Steve Grant joined St Christopher’s as Commercial Director on the 26th September. Immediately prior to joining, Steve was Head of Service Development at Cambian, a private sector provider of mental health, learning disability and specialist education services. Before that he worked as a Service Development Manager for Priory Group.
Steve was originally a secondary English Teacher, initially in Essex, then in Kent where he became Head of English at a boys’ grammar school before moving on to his first Deputy Headteacher post in Hampshire. Subsequently, he became Deputy Headteacher and Acting Headteacher at a large mixed comprehensive school in Dorset, before finally leaving school to enter the world of commerce!
Steve’s first degree was in English Literature, from St David’s University College, Lampeter (University of Wales), supplemented by a PGCE at University of Wales, Aberystwyth; later he added an MA in Modern English Literature from Birkbeck College, University of London, and a further MA(Ed) in Education Management from the University of London, Institute of Education, both taken part-time. He was one of the first in the UK to be awarded the NPQH – National Professional Qualification for Headteachers.
Steve’s interests are wide ranging, from literature, music, the arts and social affairs to football and health clubbing. He was born in Belfast and brought up near Glasgow.
